The newly appointed Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Pakistan State Oil Company Limited (PSO), Syed Muhammad Taha, has taken office.
He is known for his transformation skills in the energy sector with over two decades of industry experience.
Speaking about his appointment, Syed Muhammad Taha said: “It is a great honor for me to run the country’s largest oil marketing company with the greatest dedication. PSO has enormous growth potential in the fuel and non-fuel retail trade as well as in the lubricant segment. I am aware of the company’s chronic problems, including the alarming level of claims from various sectors. “
Strategies of Market
“We will not only focus on growth strategies in terms of market share and profitability, but will also look for opportunities to diversify within and outside of our core businesses. To achieve this, synergies are created within various operational units of the company in order to better serve our customers and stakeholders. “

In his last 19 years of managerial management experience, he has been a member of the change management team with special reference to K-Electric and PSO, where he has been an integral part of the management team that has made these difficult companies into a high profile profitable concern.
As Executive Director at Oasis Energy, he headed the program the executives office at Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, Nigeria.
Before joining Oasis Energy, he worked at K-Electric Limited as Chief Operating Officer – Distribution. And as a member of the Senior Leadership Team with overall responsibility.
Mr. Taha has also worked for over 9 years at Pakistan State Oil Company Limited (PSO). The country’s largest oil marketing company, where he held various senior positions. Including head of corporate affairs, fuel retail, card business and corporate planning, and directly working under CEOs.
From 1993 to 1999, Mr. Taha worked for Shell Pakistan, Caltex Pakistan (A Chevron Company) and Pakistan Steel Mills for around 6 years.
Mr. Taha has an engineering degree with an MBA in finance from the Karachi Institute of Business Administration.
