James Lipton dies

James Lipton, a famous media personality and presenter of “Inside the Actors Studio”, died in his house on Monday. He was 93 years old.

Lipton died Monday morning in the midst of his fight against bladder cancer, local media reported, citing his wife Kedakai Turner Lipton.

He was known for his passion. His interviews with top-class stars “Inside the Actors Studio” for more than 20 years made him a well-known figure in pop culture. James Lipton enabled individuals to be simply the best form.

Lipton hosted for 22 seasons and interviewed numerous world-famous actors and directors as part of the Actors Studio Drama School.

Notable guests on the show range from Paul Newman to Meryl Streep and Steven Spielberg to Stephen Sondheim.

The TV show was nominated for 20 Emmys during Lipton’s run. Actors Studio was originally founded by director Elia Kazan as a workshop for artists.

Lipton was born in Detroit and eventually moved to New York to pursue a career as a performer. He appeared in plays and soap operas. He joined the cast of The Guiding Light in 1952 and later became the author of the series.

Will Ferrell introduced Lipton to another audience by portraying him in “Saturday Night Live”, and the popularity of “Inside the Actors Studio” led to cameos in other series, including “Arrested Development” and the animated “Family Guy”.
